Abstract
The adult albino rats, age about 2 months; were used as expelimental animals. The radiations for animals were as follows : Geueral¢¥s Maximar X-ray unit 200 KV, filter 0.5 mm Cu+ 1mm Al, HVL 1.50 m/m Cu, target skin distance 50 cm and dose rate 27.38 r/m, total 1, 000 r. The oxygen consumption of liver-, adrenal gland-, heart-, diagrphragm-, brain- and spleen-slices in experimental and control rats were measured with the Warburg¢¥s manometer techniques.
There were no differences in oxygen consumption of livers and brains between Xray irradiated group and control group. But there were statistically significant decreasing of oxygen consumption of adrenal glands (8.5%, P <0.01) and increasing of oxygen consumption of spleens (49.2%, P<0.01) and even radioresistent hearts (32%, P <0.05) and diagphragms (15.3%, P<0.01).
The possibilities were discussed that the changes in oxygen consumption after irradiation were a manifestation of radiation stress.
